Live DJ Meets Dance Instruction
Mission:
Our intention in collaborating with other women entrepreneurs is to create an opportunity to network and expose those amazing offerings with others. With an abundance mindset, as we con-conspire with our community to reach higher versions of ourselves. Our blend of dance instruction, DJ dance music, free dance, yoga, mindfulness and collaborations with women entrepreneurs, results in a powerful community united in health and happiness.
Why do we do it?
We are both moms who love the nightlife, but can't go out as regularly as we used to. We want to encourage healthy ways of getting your groove on...during the waking hours. We started VGC to encourage people (especially those that identify as female) to express themselves through dance movement with live DJ music.
Daria Mace
Co-creator, Daria Mace, is a dance instructor, pet portrait artist, certified life coach and mom to a 3 yr old. And funny enough, she has been dancing ever since she was 3 years old! Her main training has ranged from modern, to all ballroom dance styles, to brazilian samba. After taking every dance class under the sun - just for the love of it -, she attended the Teacher Training program at Metronome Ballroom. She later became a professional Brazilian Samba dancer with Energia do Samba and Birds of Paradise. She has been in countless performances, events and parades. She has also choreographed pieces for wedding, birthday, burlesque and festival events in various forms of dance. She is available for consultations and private sessions. “Dance is my passion, my bliss, my release. If you can walk, you can dance….just close your eyes and flow with it!”
Nurse Noise
Nurse Noise specializes in cross-genre booty-shaking, bass-heavy, good-time feeling beats. She believes the attitude behind the decks is just as important as the music selection and mixing. With a background in performance arts, you might find her dancing on speakers to get the crowd going.
Nurse Noise is the co-founder of a unique live dance and DJ collaboration called the Venus Groove Collective. Lee-Anne is one of the pioneers to DJ in a virtual reality club at High Fidelity (an open source platform that anyone can log into from a desktop). She has a weekly show at High Fidelity at Rust (the night club) on Fridays from 5-6pm PST. Additionally, she contributes to the 3 Degrees community that actively throws campout festivals.
Starting her DJ career in 1996 in college radio at KSCU and then KUSF, Nurse Noise had a prime-time radio show for seven years called "The Treatment Show". Gradually she worked her way on to the decks through her Burning Man camps: Magic Glasses, Coda, & Illuminaughty.
